The SR culture of the company I work for is crucial. However, my ability through my work to make a meaningful contribution to my community is of far greater importance. I left a decade-long career as an art director in the Corporate Apparel/Brand Merchandise field because I couldn't find a way to be of greater value. I then spent seven years as a banker and am extremely proud of the people and businesses I helped in that field. Only in the past few months, after discovering a way to contribute substantially, have I been able to enthusiastically re-enter my original profession.
So for me, yes the SR culture is important, but more so are the opportunities given me to be a person of meaning and value.
What changed for you, or was it something in the industry? I think your desire to make a meaningful contribution to your community is one shared by many of the members of this community.
