There are seven core areas described in ISO 26000.
- Organizational Governance
- Human Rights
- Labor Practices
- Environment
- Fair Operation Practices
- Consumer Issues
- Community Involvement and Development
In addition there is the foundational Ethic of social responsibility that underlies each of the areas. Or maybe better said the Ethic is evident in how social responsibility emerges withing the 7 core areas.
To me the Ethic of compassion, empathy and respect is the key to Social Responsibility. In fact if I have the Social Responsibility ethic in my heart I will be socially responsibile in all that I do.
And developing this ethic in each of us is the most pressing issue in our world today (all the crisis we have would be far less if we are all socially responsible).
